Akiko UOTANI 魚谷 あきこ
Graduated from Musashino Art University, Akiko Uotani engages in a wide range of production activities, including solo and group exhibitions in Tokyo as well as in Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture.
We've been attracted by the delicate and transparent softness in her work: a gentle flower, the soft water patterns as well as her famous small dots motif we can find in lots of her works.
Each petal and each detail has been manually created and then pasted on the surface of the object, which requires an extremely high level of savoir-faire : when the object is fired later at a high temperature of almost1200/1300 degrees, an object with such detail has a higher risk of crack or failure.
Her work is so welcomed in Japan and in Asia it is becoming very hard to collect her objects. (Her ceramics is always quickly snapped up during different exhibitions.)
Galerie Tokyo has the honor to present her work in our gallery and we hope you enjoy them!
