Born in Hokkaido in 1989, Makoto Saito studied at art school in Kanazawa.

His works of art are known for his "dreamy surface" which was created by hand polishing layer after layer.

 

Each item has been carefully designed to obtain a light texture, a clean and uniform shape. No industrial mold, everything happens on his potter's wheel.

For a single object, the artist must polish and scratch his surface with a sponge about 5000 times before color and shape reach their perfection.
